Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) requirements for Landlords and rented properties: what are the rules?

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ What are the current minimum EPC requirements for landlords? 

๐Ÿ”น At the moment, all rental properties are required to have an EPC rating of E or higher
๐Ÿ”น The Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) are a set of rules relating to rental homes. They were first introduced in England and Wales in 2015.
๐Ÿ”น In 2018, MEES made it illegal for private landlords to rent a property that has an EPC rating below E.
๐Ÿ”น That means that any homes rated F or G canโ€™t be offered for rent until their rating is improved. 
๐Ÿ”น Note that some properties with F or G ratings can be rented out, but Landlords must have an official government exemption in place

The Labour government has confirmed its plans for all rental properties to have EPC rating C by 2030 ๐Ÿƒ
