Happy 17th birthday Cavendish, how time flies... Looking back over all those years, you've given us such a sense of achievement for which we're very grateful.
From day one, I remember it all so clearly...
🔸 So, I'd worked in lettings for 4 years already - decided to take the leap into the unknown by starting my own agency... Never ran a business before, didn't know what to expect.
🔸 Thinking, what do I even call this new agency? My friend says, "Why don’t you call it Cavendish Lettings?” and in that instant, Cavendish was born!
🔸 Then, our first ever office at 20 Fletcher Gate (next to Ibis Hotel)…
🔸 One room, one desk, one chair, one phone. Nothing else in that room whatsoever.
🔸 No properties to market, no rent to collect, no computer, no files… absolute ZERO.
🔸 First job was to incorporate Cavendish Lettings Limited as an official business, so I went online to Companies House and within 10 minutes we had our Certificate of Incorporation, that was dated 15th May 2006!
🔸 6 months of making calls, speaking to people etc and our first let came in October (2006) down at Park Ravine in The Park.
🔸 The properties started to add up after that… 10, then 20 and I remember hitting 30 thinking OMG that’s a lotttttt!
🔸 Help needed! So I offered our first ever full-time job to one of our Tenants, Lauren (thank you big time to my best friend Paul for that genius idea!)… Lauren started in September 2007.
🔸 We moved to a bigger office a year later (in the same building), and it didn’t take long before we outgrew that one too…
🔸 April 2009… We joined offices with Savills on 9 Fletcher Gate.
🔸 June 2016… We bought the offices that we’re in now, One Fletcher Gate (yep, when you look at our office addresses we were destined to be Number 1 from the start: 20 > 9 > 1!)...
🔸 It's then that we re-branded as Cavendish Residential (offering not just Lettings, but Sales too).
🔸 And now look where we are with our incredible team, managing hundreds of properties!
What can I say? I’ve enjoyed every single one of those 17 years – we’ve achieved SO much!
I think what set us apart all the way back from day one was our seamless responsiveness (as in, we all knew what was going on) and our positive can-do attitude… Cavendish would constantly reply to customers above all else and we were always bright and smiley in everything we did.
There was one particular customer I remember, Sue... I met Sue at her apartment to do my best to win the instruction. As soon as I said hello, Sue just handed me the keys, literally upon meeting her.
I asked her, "Wow, thank you but don’t you want to know a little more about who we are and what we do etc?” Sue’s response, “I know you’re the people that reply to my texts at 7pm, I barely heard anything back from the others!”
Above all, our successes have come from our super-amazing teams past and present, which today, on our 17th birthday includes an fantastic group of Cavendish experts!
When it comes to selling or renting property in Nottingham, we have shown that Cavendish is by far the logical choice for which we are all extremely proud.
Can’t wait to continue attracting, connecting and building more and more lasting relationships for years to come, hitting bigger milestones and sharing many new memories with our valued customers and our responsive, bright team along the way.
