📢 Calling all Landlords: There's no doubt about it, 'Right-to-Rent' is SERIOUS legislation that you must be aware of 📢

🔸This month, a revised code of practice for 'Right-to-Rent' has been issued to Landlords and Agents by the Home office
🔸Coming into force on 22 January 2024, this is set to coincide with higher maximum fines for non-compliance under the Immigration Act 2014 (Residential Accommodation) (Maximum Penalty) Order 2023 and and the Immigration (Restrictions on Employment and Residential Accommodation) (Codes of Practice) (Amendment) Order 2023
🔸The revised code of practice is the sixth update and will replace the previous version from March 2022

What happens if Landlords or Agents are non-compliant? 🤔

🔸In August, the Government announced much larger financial penalties
🔸Up to £5,000 per lodger and £10,000 per occupier for a first breach, then from £80 and £1,000 respectively
🔸THIS IS SERIOUS!: repeat breaches could cost up to £10,000 per lodger (up from £500) with a WHOPPING maximum fine of £20,000 per occupier (up from £3,000)
